Grown-Up Countries Don't Use FPTP
Think proportional representation is a bizarre system only for new-age radicals? Most modern countries use a PR or a mixed form of PR. In fact, new democracies (such as those of the former Soviet block) have invariably chosen a system such as these when deciding on the best way to run their new democracies; all avoid FPTP.
